Sci164 - The characteristics of an intimate relationship is behavioral interdependence, need fulfillment, emotional attachment, and emotional availability. Behavioral interdependence is how people can influence each other to do positive things in life, and how your intertwining with one another. Needing fulfillment is to be able to share my feelings, worries and concerns, someone that will be there in the time of need, and someone to tell me I matter. An emotional attachment is a bond or feeling of love that you have for a person. Emotional availability is the ability to give and receive emotions without the fear of being hurt or turned down. These thing are important to develop in a relationship because it tells and gives feelings, share confidences, and provide support and reassurance. If the relationship does not have these things how can it be intimate. How can you feel close to someone if there is no emotional attachment or a need for fulfillment. In a relationship you should be able to give and receive these characteristics in an intimate relationship.
